The Santa Maria to Sligoville Rehabilitation Road Works was the second of three phases to upgrade the road network in James Hill. It began in January 2014 and was completed in June 2014. As in phase one, we improved the road way to cut travelling time and give commuters to Kingston from the Coopers Hill and Rock Hall Communities a more comfortable driving experience. This road also serves as an alternate route for the Bog Walk Gorge, which is often closed to commuters when the river rises after heavy rains. We completely resurfaced the corridor, and repaired the parapets and headwalls. We also excavated small areas of rock along embankments to facilitate the roadway widening.
Other improvement works includes;
- Bushing
- Cleaning of Drains
- Rock excavation,
- Construction of Retaining walls,
- Side walls,
- Kerb walls,
- Concrete steps,
- Asphaltic concrete pavement.
